More and more people are becoming aware that we need to take care of out environment. We only have this one planet and so far, we aren’t doing a good job of taking care of it. The problem is that most people don’t know what they themselves can do about it. Part of the problem is that we are too wasteful, so conservation is one way of making a small difference. Here are some smart and easy ways that you can contribute to making our environment a better place.
You can start at home by cooking from scratch and making your own lunches for work. Buy fresh and local grown food to use in your home cooking when ever possible. You won’t only be helping the environment, but you’ll also be doing wonders for your own health.
Back in the day, many of our mothers would hang clothes out to dry on clothes lines after washing. Today clothes lines are a rare thing to see and are often frowned upon in modern neighborhoods. But hanging clothes out to dry in the sun is a good way to save energy. Sun dried clothes are also healthier because of the suns rays.
Many of us are wasteful because we just don’t think about what we’re doing. We have grown accustomed to having everything we need at our fingertips. Water is one resource that we waste continually. Make sure to turn off the water while you brush your teeth. Try to get leaks fixed. It won’t only help with your water bill, but it helps the environment.
It doesn’t take much effort to do some good for the planet. Often, it’s just a matter of thinking about the things we do that may be wasteful. Just think about the things you throw out after using just once, and find ways to reuse or repurpose those things. Every little thing we do counts.
