As the spring gives way to summer, it’s time for the school term to be over and for many, it’s time to graduate. It may seem like only yesterday that they started school and already it’s time for them to move on. For a lot of parents, it’s time to plan a graduation party to celebrate the accomplishment. But there are a few things to remember if you want your graduation party to be a success.
You won’t be the only one throwing a graduation party so it’s a good idea to find out if there are any other events planned for the same day you had in mind. Ask your kids and try to communicate with other parents. It may even work out to have an open house party where your graduate’s classmates can move from one party to the next on the same day.
Decide on a guest list. It helps to know who is coming so that you can make sure you have the room. Having a guest list will also help you determine where to have the party. Maybe you want to rent a hall or other facility to have your party.
You can now decide if you want to have a theme for the party. Is it formal, or will it be in the backyard where everyone can wear flip flops? Based on what you decide you can now arrange for decorations. Will the decorations be according to a theme, or will balloons and ribbons do?
Food and entertainment must be arranged for. There are many great catering services available so take the time to look around for something unique. Maybe you want to get a DJ or band depending on your budget.
These are just some ideas to help you get the ball rolling for a great graduation party.
